Please take a few moments to watch the video statement issued by our presiding bishop today on what it means to be a neighbor in the gospel sense. His words speak to the current crisis at the border of the United States and to the status of immigrants in the country. Bishops of the six dioceses in Texas, those closest to the situation, have issued a joint statement, as well. “For us, it’s not a political issue. It is imperative to love our neighbors and minister to our neighbors. … For us, this is living out our vocation of faith, not any sort of political agenda,” said the Rev. Topher Rodgers in an article in the Abilene Reporter News (Texas Episcopal bishops issue joint statement about detention centers).
