Our 2020 Trail of Souls event was full of rich discussion. We talked about the significance of the recent passage of our diocesan Reparations resolution with Keenan Keller, Senior Counsel of the House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary who has done extensive work on bill HR 40, which seeks to establish a Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans. The bill was originally presented by the late Congressman John Conyers for review and approval more than 30 years ago and has yet to make substantive progress in moving forward. We also discussed what we have learned in our journey towards Reparations as a diocese and what actions we need to consider to help voice our support for this bill moving forward. We heard from Baltimore native Kondwani Fidel to discuss his book The Antiracist: How to Start the Conversation about Race and Take Action.
