About our Preacher
The Rev. Arlette D. Benoit Joseph will preach at the service of ordination and consecration of the Rev. Carrie K. Schofield-Broadbent this Saturday, September 16 at Washington National Cathedral. The Rev. Joseph is passionate about the spiritual and emotional wellness of clergy, as well as the Christian and Spiritual Formation of all God’s people. She approaches her calling with vibrancy and vitality. The Rev. Joseph began serving as the Senior Vice President Church Relations Officer for the Church Pension Group (CPG) in July 2023. In this role she represents CPG at events and conferences across the Church and works with the Chief Church Relations Officer (CCRO) in establishing healthy, mutually beneficial relationships between CPG and The Episcopal Church. She advises the CCRO, CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and other senior managers on church-related matters to ensure continued success with our clients, church leadership and the various institutions of The Episcopal Church.
The Rev. Joseph most recently served as canon for transitions in the Diocese of Pennsylvania and in that role, supported congregations with clergy recruitment, deployment, and the ordination process for those discerning a call to ministry. She graduated from The General Theological Seminary in New York City, earning a Master’s in Divinity and a certificate in Spiritual Direction. While at seminary she interned at St. Ann’s Church for the Deaf and Trinity Church, Wall Street as seminarian, then deacon. She was ordained to the priesthood in 2013 in the Diocese of Atlanta.
In Atlanta, The Rev. Joseph served as associate rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and campus missioner for Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing.
After graduating from Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC with a BA in Marketing, the Rev. Joseph began her career in the business world as a marketing analyst at UPS Mail Innovations in Atlanta, where she managed account representatives and their customer care department.
The Rev. Joseph was born and raised in the beautiful twin island Republic Trinidad and Tobago, home to the greatest Carnival in the world. Her hobbies include using her creative energies at household crafting, indoor cycling, traveling and outdoor activities with her almost five-year-old English Mastiff named Justice.
